GrummSkull papertoy

It’s been a while … I need to share more papertoys with the world.
So here is another custom papertoy from me: GrummSkull.

GrummSkull GrummSkull

This papertoy is a custom based upon the paper skull from Patrick Pasques.
The paper spring used is really great! Better then the spring I used for Drukks and much simpler!
Check out Patrick’s work, its really amazing (blog is in French, but even without translation the images speak for themself) and support his work and buy his books!

Here is the template:

Social stuff works!

I asked everybody to share/like/retweet, and when the number hits 20 I would put this papertoy online:

Tribute to Heavy Bramble: papertoy Brummble

Updates: I moved them to the bottom of this post, just click here to jump to the updates!

This is my first of my monthly “big” – post (read more about the changes I will make this year).

I had this lying around for some time (made it before Christmas), but didn’t take the time to finish it.
For the first time I had a WIP test builder (Jason Bolt) and that helped a lot.
Especially because I had some pressure to finish it!!

And as promised it will be down-loadable; I present:

Brummble

Brummble side front

Brummble is a papertoy tribute to the awesome vinyl from ThreeA: Heavy Bramble.
I wanted to see how fast I could “papertoy” a vinyl (about 3 nights (3*4hours) and some extra hours for ‘bugfixing some ‘lite’ instructions and photos). The instructions are very minimal, so some it’s not a beginners project. You will need 5 pages, my advice is to use 120/160 gram paper (heavier than the usual printing-/copy-paper). It will take about 4 hours to cut out and build.

Blank template

Not a print this time? No I don’t think it needs more, but you may always surprise me with a custom!

5 pages

Yes it’s not a small papertoy, but the result will be very close to the original!
and show me/the world the pictures!!

(You can use freeware like FilZip or 7zip to extract a .ZIP-file and read a .PDF with Acrobat or Foxit)

Update #1: Everybody is as excited as I am: 400 downloads in 5 days (300+ in the weekend; normally the time that the visits to this blog is the lowest)
Update #2: Check the trackback links at the bottom: 3 blogs posted about Brummble: THX
Update #3: The first prove that someone has built Brammble: Josh Buczynski build https://twitter.com/#!/Sergenth/status/161100136280358912/photo/1 (also check out his website paperposeables.com and especially the poplock; I will be doing something with that system in the future! )
Update #4: Another build: check out https://twitter.com/#!/ario_fitrianto/status/162202275434086401 by Ario Fitrianto. Thx for the build! And customizing
Update #5: A French papertoy blog has a post about Brummble: check out paper-toy.fr (perhaps use google translate)
Update #6: A documented build by Jared R Delo, visit his google+ photo gallery: Brammble build in 8 staps
Update #7: A custom by Marko Zubak. Check my tweet about this AWESOME Brammble custom

Revolvrr papertoy

I have been busy… Not really with my papertoys

But this one is just so you don’t forget me:
Say hello to my little friend

Revolvrr is a papertoy that I made as a part of an other papertoy.

Nick Knite and Dolly Oblong advised me to share it with you. So here it is: it’s only a blank version because it just doesn’t need more.

The .ZIP file contains a .PDF
(You can use freeware like FilZip or 7zip to extract a .ZIP-file and read a .PDF with Acrobat or Foxit)

There was some room left on the template so I made a bullet for the Revolvrr 😀

Update #1: in 48 hours more than 500 downloads. Everybody needs protection. So don’t bring a scissor to a papertoy fight!
Update #2: in 6 days more than 1000 downloads. Throw your guns in the air.
Update #3: 12 days and 1400 downloads. To protect and serve…

Tip from Methuup da Funky One: Glue the curved piece of the cylinder in first, apply glue and push the 4 half moons with the tabs which form the top and bottom of the cylinder from the inside into place.

Update #3: the first Revolvrr customs are here:

Revolvrr custom – Anonymous

Revolvrr custom – George McKnight
Revolvrr custom - George McKnight

How to do this?

The first you need is a piece of paper with a print/pattern on it. Try Google for a pattern.
You can buy paper with a print on it but you can also use a page from a comic/magazine/flyer.
After that you just print the blank template on it.

Oh no!!!

The first papertoy suicide? A sad way to end your birthday… how will this end…
And remember: Revolvrr’s don’t kill people, scissors do!

Deksta having a morbid sence of humor
(No papertoy fan(s) where hurt during this photo session)

PUMA – states/suede/clyde – urban paper sneaker

As I mentioned before: I always wanted to do a papertoy sneaker.

When I finished my first PUMA sneakers, and posted it on NPT (Nice Paper Toy), some people mentioned that they liked the model but that there favorite PUMA sneaker is the states/suede/clyde.
I didn’t know that the PUMA states/suede/clyde is a b-boy classic.

So I couldn’t resist to make them too:

I don’t have a download link for this one, and no design yet….
But that will be fixed very soon.

PS.
The excellent Ron Rementilla from Paperkraft.blogspot.com has written about my PUMA First round papertoy (thx for that).
And suggested that readers who wanted a template, leave a comment….

Till now 10 people did and they have received the (WIP) templates…
I call the templates WIP because the instructions are not ready yet.
And because I wanted to make the PUMA clyde first, they are not ready yet.

Lo Slungg

Finally I found some time to finish the templates from Lo Slungg. Sorry it took so long.

For the readers that don’t know Lo Slungg, here is a image:

This is the first time I have an explanation page (the first page) with the templates. I couldn’t fit the explanation onto the templates, so don’t print the first page!.

Little Grummerboy – a Grumm custom by Hardy

I feel ashamed, and I should! This custom is laying around on my virtual desktop for a long time now.
And it’s really great!

I present: Little GrummerBoy a Grumm custom by Hardy

Little Grummerboy by Hardy, a Grumm Custom

So lets start introducing: Hardy a German graphic designer and allround creative.
You can visit Hardy on his own blog: thepaperjam.de, it’s in German so not readable for everyone 🙁 .
More into English? Perhaps you should visit him on myspace: Hardy has the most awesome myspace I have ever seen which is dedicated to his papertoy Bottecc.

Bottecc
You can download the Bottecc templates at the bottom of page, just search for “bottecc beta template”. (it’s a illustrator EPS, he should to change that to PDF… oh well!)

But that’s not all, Bottecc is a papertoy wrestler… Yes you heard it correct.. This papertoy can busta move:

As Hardy put it:

i started working on bottecc with the idea to make a papercraft that can really move and wrestle like the good old wwf-stars.

The subtitle of Hardy’s site is “Paper wrestling association“!
Too bad that the idea is not finished yet. I would love to send a Grumm into the ring 🙂
I don’t think there many papertoys out there that can beat Grumm 😀

New homepage for Drukk, Selfish Series and Pusher Series

For the more observed reader of my blog might have noticed a extra menu item: Drukk and as the title of this post suggest it’s the new home of Drukk, the Selfish Series and the Pusher Series.

So for my rss readers I have a little image:

New homepage for Drukk, Selfish Series and Pusher Series
New homepage for Drukk, Selfish Series and Pusher Series

On this page you can find two series…. one is the Selfish Series and the other is the Pusher Series.

The Selfish Series is designed by me, and they are created to show you what is possible with Drukk (it’s not only easy to create a custom-skin but also easy to customize!)
The Pusher Series (Designers on Drukks) is a slot-series….
???wtf is that???
Every Pusher Series has 6 slots, when all slots are filled I will start with a new Selfish Series and open the next Pusher Series.

Do you want to participate in Pusher Series 1, this is still possible: get the blank Drukk template and start designing.
Four slots are already filled by other designers: Marko Zubak with Robbox, Marshall Alexander with Nukk, Nick Knite (SIZZA) with Speed racurr and Scott Carrington aka Dr Shazam with Dead Drukk.

But if you’re not that creative this page is also for you! Both series can be download there, so happy building…
🙂

Grumm by Petra: Pink Grumm

Another Grumm custom: this time by my girlfriend…

Petra van Breugel designed a Grumm in her favorite color: pink. And that simple reason is also the base for it’s name: Pink Grumm 🙂

Pink Grumm by Petra van Breugel

I’ve been experimenting with Sketchup, but you can see that I not finished with the Grumm 3D model but it has not the same impact as an picture…
If you can send me a better picture, your picture/credits will be use instead!

Grumm by Enkeling: Grummeling – part 2

I have mentioned before that a friend of mine made a Grumm.

But for some reason I never made a download link… So this is a post about that: and some reminder for this Grumm.

Symen Veenstra aka Enkeling is a very talented illustrator and a good friend. We both went to the same art academy where we both studied graphic design …. (he is now an illustrator and I’m a Flash developer/designer 🙂 )

He called this Grumm: Grummeling

Grummeling by Enkeling

The .ZIP file contains a .PDF
(You can use freeware like FilZip or 7zip to extract a .ZIP-file and read a .PDF with Acrobat or Foxit)

When I started with Grumm I thought it would be cool to see all sides of Grumm and see the complete design. So I made a rotation viewer. But because it’s a lot of work creating a rotation I stopped doing that. Symen is the last one I made one for.

Foldskool Heroes: Batmobile

Marshall Alexander is, like me, one of the designers that are invited to contribute to the book made by Matt Hawkins (read more).

Batmobile Foldskool Promo
Batmobile Foldskool Promo

But why haven’t I written about him before? Well, Marshall didn’t have a blank template to customize!
When I started a forum topic on NicePaperToys about my todo-list Marshall wasn’t even on that list!

But Marshall decided that he had practiced enough and published 3 models in the Foldskool series.
I didn’t have the time to build or customize it at that time, but later I downloaded a template and was amazed at the skills used to create this template (it in one piece). And I needed to create a custom for this beautiful piece of paper-art!!

Perhaps the correct order would be, to first write something about Marshall, and then post the custom that I did, but what the heck. I have created a Foldskool Hero: and my Foldskool hero is the Batmobile. And customizing is more fun when you can do something extra with the model…

Batmobile Foldskool Heroes
Batmobile Foldskool Heroes

I have modified the model a little and added some extra parts…. You still can make the model in one piece, but then the tires are very slim 🙂

(Marshall had no objections with putting a download link on my page, and I’m a sucker for statistics 🙂 )
(The .ZIP file (use freeware like FilZip or 7zip to extract a >ZIP) contains a .PDF (which you can read with Acrobat or Foxit ))

The artist series is small, but with some great designers:

“Cenobox Pin Cushion” created by Jason Harlan
and

“Yebomaycu” created by Marko Zubak
and me:
